    Our Story

     

    What began as a dream of Bishop Rogarth Kimarjo, CSSp. to build a school in this deprived area of Dar es Salaam in 2007 has become a reality with a present enrollment of  140 nursery and 244 primary students cared for by a staff of 35 teachers and administrators

    The school has been recognized nationally as in the top tier of institutions in its class. and students have achieved impressive scores in National Examinations.Test scores, grade point averages and learning retention increases have seen significant year over year gains at all levels.

    1867

    Spiritans arrive in Tanzania

    1972

    The school was founded and consisted only of a nursery.

    2005


    Spiritans assumed responsibility for administration of the parish and school.

    2008


    Houstonian Bruce Wilkinson meeting in Kipawa with Fr. Rogarth Kimarjo C.S.Sp. where visions were shared and the Wilkinson Foundation committed to completing the school and building a parish rectory.

    2009

    Construction of parish rectory, classrooms (academic building A), and adjacent water / sanitation resources

    2010

    Primary school dedication attended by then Tanzanian President Mkapa, Spiritan confreres, and members of the Wilkinson family.

    Libermann School is classified by the Tanzanian government as an English Lanuage Medium School.

    2014

    Fr. Joseph Triphon, CSSp. became the school administrator, and in the following year the school attained government registration.

    2015

    The three level academic building C is completed; first floor includes computer lab and classroom; floors 2 and 3 new classrooms completed.
     

    2016

    Wi-Fi  installed throughout the campus; and the develpment of a school website.

    A master plan for years 2017-2022 was completed by DCM Architecture and Engineering, LLC.

    2017

     An additional  water well added to ensure safe drinking water for the campus.

    2018

    A re-furbished school bus was purchased to transport students.

    2019

    Work began on kitchen proect to serve both the needs of the school and the parish.

    2020

    The school was temporarily closed in the spring due to the COVID-19 pandemic; work on kitchen project ceases until July 2021.
     

    2021

    Fr. Joseph Triphon, C.S.Sp. moved on to other Spiritan mission activities in May and was replaced by Fr. Assenga Renatus, C.S.Sp.; following a 20 month delay due to the COVID-1p predamic, work resumed on the kitchen building.
     

    2022

    In April a new kitchen was completed to serve the growing needs  of the school enrollment, teachers and staff. It now has the capability of producing fresh bread daily.

    In May a second block of 12 classrooms was completed. Each room has electrical outlets, over head fans, and is secured with window entry protection and door locks. There are also 18 toilets in the building, 9 for girls and 9 for boys.

    The school is located in  Ilala District, Plot No. 41Block C, near the main road opposite Julius Kambarage Nyerere International Airport in Dar-es-salaam Region. It is about 12 km ( 7.5 miles) Southwest of the City centre.
